PERSONAL SUMMARY

I am a competent, committed and experienced teacher with over 20 years of invaluable experience in the educational sector. I have taught Ceramics and Art & Design classes across a very wide range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. I have a great depth of subject knowledge and take great pleasure in communicating my passion for my subject to my students and helping them to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding.

I am an enthusiastic and reliable teacher, easy going by nature and get along with work colleagues, pupils and senior managers.

  • Designed, ran and administered BTEC Level 2 course in Art & Design
  • Taught across a wide range of Art & Design courses, including Level 1, GCSE, A Level, Pre Degree Foundation and HNC
  • Taught Ceramics as my primary subject, but also 3D Design, Sketchbook Review, Contextual Studies and Individual and Group Tutorial

Ceramics Tutor – Loughborough University
Sept 1986 – present day

  • Running and maintaining a ceramics studio, teaching evening classes twice weekly, open to all members of Loughborough University and the local community

Ceramics Tutor – Carlton Hayes Hospital, Enderby
Sept 1987 – Sept 1990

  • Ran the ceramics studio in the OT department of a Psychiatric Hospital
  • Worked with clients across the whole range of mental illnesses aged 17 – 90

Community Artist – East Midlands
Sept 1986 – present day

  • Running Ceramics and Art workshops across the widest possible spectrum of the community from school sessions and summer playschemes to adults with special needs, travellers and groups from the RNIB
  • Working in an advisory capacity in schools to help set up or adapt ceramics departments or to train staff in health and safety and specific ceramics skills and knowledge
